Craft & Create Program 2024

Studio Playground fosters individual growth for children in our community by using the performing arts to create social change. Our Craft & Create Program occurs during our annual summer theater camp in Licoln Woods State Park. Students ages 5-12 learn to design and props and costumes for their original characters. The elements from Craft & Create support our performance in which students bring their characters to life and experience multiple steps in creating a play. Under the instruction of professional artists and experienced teachers, students learn skills for collaboration, design, and visual arts. The program focuses on individual empowerment as students learn to support one another in their artistic process and take pride in their work as a group and as individuals.

Our Craft & Create Program is made possible by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. We are grateful to RISCA their for support for our mission to foster individual growth for children in our community using the performing arts.

Join Studio Playground for our 5th Annual Theater Camp in Lincoln Woods State Park!

Students ages 5-11 have a fun-filled week of theater games, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. Our Create & Create Program provides hands-on crafting projects as students create costumes and props to bring their original show to life. Each week culminates in an outdoor performance for friends and family.

Our acting classes for kids and teens occur in Providence, Rhode Island.

Studio Playground teaches classes for all ages based in movement and physical acting. Classes integrate arts education with core concepts for social-emotional learning including self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship skills. Students explore the benefits of laughter through movement, performance, and playful improvisation.
