Performing Arts in Libraries (PAL) is an afterschool program for children ages 8-13 offered by Studio Playground and Community Libraries of Providence: Wanskuck Library. Students attend weekly classes as they adapt a children's book into a theatrical performance using movement and playful improvisation. The program culminates in a public performance at Wanskuck Library on May 15. PAL is entirely free for the community. Registration is required. Space is limited. The program promotes literacy, teaches concepts for self-awareness and social awareness, and introduces skills for performing arts. Classes begin with a warm up and physical acting game as students learn the fundamental concepts of voice, body, and imagination. Let’s laugh, sing, and make a beautiful ruckus! Join Studio Playground for a theater program that empowers students to develop confidence and find their voice within an ensemble.
PAL is funded by The City of Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism (ACT) and the Studio Playground Board of Directors.
